SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Summit League women's volleyball programs collected a combined nine wins during the opening week of the season, highlighted by a 3-0 week from North Dakota State and a 2-0 week from Omaha. South Dakota, Denver, and South Dakota State also saw wins during the first weekend of play.
All nine Summit League volleyball teams are in action this week, competing across eight different states. South Dakota State and Denver are the only programs hosting home matches.
North Dakota State, off to a 3-0 start for the third time in four seasons, will travel to Montana for two matches facing Oakland on Friday and Montana on Saturday. Omaha hits the road for a three-match stretch in Texas, taking on LSU on Thursday, Houston on Friday, and San Diego State on Saturday.
South Dakota opens its week early with a Thursday afternoon matchup against UConn. The Coyotes then face Colgate on Friday and wrap up the weekend against Ball State on Saturday.
Kansas City travels east to Illinois, where the Roos will meet Eastern Illinois, Southern Illinois, and New Mexico State. North Dakota is headed to West Virginia for matches against West Virginia, Coppin State, and Liberty. St. Thomas will also travel to Texas, taking on Houston Christian, Bethune-Cookman, and Southern Mississippi.
South Dakota State begins its second weekend of play at home in Brookings, welcoming Ole Miss on Friday and Wyoming on Sunday. Denver will host Memphis on Thursday, Texas Southern on Friday, and Idaho State on Saturday. Oral Roberts travels to Chapel Hill for a matchup with North Carolina on Saturday and Bucknell on Sunday to round out this weekend’s slate.

Around The League
• South Dakota, South Dakota State, Denver, North Dakota State, and Omaha all picked up victories during the opening stint of the women’s college volleyball season.
• North Dakota State started the season 3-0 for the third time in the last four seasons.
• Omaha sits fourth in the NCAA in assists per set (14.50) and ninth in kills per set (15.33) after two victories against Milwaukee.
• USD’s Avery Van Hook leads the league in total assists (114) and assists per set (9.50) after the opening weekend matches against (RV) Oregon, Montana State, and Prairie View A&M.
• Denver’s Izabela Molina is tied for first in the league with 1.25 block per set and recorded eight blocks in a five-set thriller against Loyola Marymount.
• ORU freshman Hayden Hart tallied 30 kills in three matches to earn a spot on the Vandal Volleyball Invitational All-Tournament Team.
• South Dakota State’s Sylvie Zgonc notched 18 kills and 8 digs in a 3-1 win against Illinois before recording her first double-double of the season with 15 kills and 15 digs against (RV) UNI.
• St. Thomas’s Tezra Rudzitis had a strong weekend garnering 43 kills in 12 sets (3.58 digs/set) to earn a spot on the Golden Gopher Invitational All-Tournament Team.
• Kansas City placed middle blocker Ledisi Kpea and outside hitter Ryanne Wattree on the Highlander Invitational All-Tournament Team. Kpea recorded the most blocks in the Summit League during the opening weekend with 13.
• UND’s Paige Barber recorded back-to-back games with double-digit kills including a game-high 14 kills against Saint Mary’s.
