UND’s Barber, USD’s Farris garner the Kwik Star #SummitVB weekly accolades

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota outside hitter Paige Barber and South Dakota defensive specialist/ libero Kamryn Farris received the latest Summit League Kwik Star Volleyball Peak Performers of the Week league officials announced Tuesday. Barber claimed her first career offensive honor, while Farris has earned the defensive award four times this season.

Barber totaled 35 kills, 14 digs and a .256 hitting percentage as the Fighting Hawks went 1-1 during the first week of conference play.
 
The Brecksville, Ohio native recorded back-to-back matches with double digit kills. Barber garnered a career-high 23 kills with a .333 hitting percentage and nine digs against South Dakota. This was the Fighting Hawks’ first win over the Coyotes since 2015.
 
The Fighting Hawk senior then registered 12 kills and five digs in a three-set loss to North Dakota State.
 
Farris, who garnered the weekly defensive accolade for the fourth time in five weeks, totaled 37 digs during the Coyotes’ opening weekend of conference play. The Lansing, Kan., native had eight assists and 22 digs in the opening-match loss to North Dakota.

The USD senior then earned 15 digs along with five assists and four aces in a sweep against Oral Roberts.
