#SummitVB Weekly Notes: Week 7 Edition

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Kansas City picked up two wins over North Dakota and North Dakota State to remain undefeated and atop the Summit League standings. South Dakota also went 2-0 last week, earning wins over Omaha and South Dakota State.

The Roos (9-6) lead the League in points per set (18.64), hitting percentage (.265), assists per set (13.09), kills per set (14.00) and service aces per set (2.36). Kansas City is also tied with North Dakota State for the league lead in total service aces with 26. Omaha (9-5) leads the League in total blocks with 39.0, while South Dakota (9-5) tops the conference in digs per set (20.33).

St. Thomas (3-10) leads the League in total digs (275) and total attacks (639), while North Dakota State( 10-4) ranks first in total points (280), assists (215) and kills (224). South Dakota State leads the conference in blocks per set (2.69).
 
Omaha, South Dakota State, North Dakota State and North Dakota each picked up one win during the second week of conference action, while Oral Roberts and St. Thomas were unable to secure a victory.
 
This week, Kansas City travels to South Dakota State and South Dakota, while Oral Roberts visits South Dakota and South Dakota State. North Dakota State travels to North Dakota, and St. Thomas visits Omaha as Summit League play continues.

Around The League
• The Summit League ranks 14th in the first RPI of the season, placing the league among the top half of NCAA Division I volleyball conferences.
• Kansas City sits atop the Summit League standings for the first time since 2023, opening conference play with a perfect 3-0 record after wins over North Dakota, North Dakota State and Oral Roberts.
• Kansas City has three players leading the league in key statistical categories during conference play. Ryanne Wattree leads the league with 4.91 kills per set and 5.41 points per set, while Stella Smith leads in hitting percentage at .424 and Mia Weaver paces the league with 0.73 service aces per set.
• Omaha handed South Dakota State its first League loss since Nov. 7, 2024, snapping the Jackrabbits’ 21-game conference winning streak.
•Omaha’s duo of Dara Obeid and Lara Maric have combined for 48 blocks in conference play, ranking first and second in the league, respectively.
• South Dakota led the nation in digs per set last week, averaging 22.50 digs per set across matches against St. Thomas and Omaha. Sierra Pokharel averaged 5.17 digs per set, Lauren Medeck averaged 4.67, Avery Van Hook and Samantha Untiedt each averaged 3.17, and Cora Hokenstad added 2.00.
•USD’s Avery Van Hook has climbed to fifth on the program’s career assists list and 20th on the Summit League’s career assists list, with 3,676 career assists.
• South Dakota State’s Sylvie Zgonc has climbed to 12th in Summit League history with 1,567 career kills and 4,171 career attacks, ranking 12th in both categories.
• North Dakota State outside hitters Lauren Jansen and Zoe John lead the league in total kills during conference play, with Jansen recording 71 kills and John adding 65.
•North Dakota recorded double-digit service aces for the third time this season against Oral Roberts, with five Fighting Hawks recording at least one ace.
•St. Thomas senior setter Morgan Kealy surpassed 1,000 career digs during the match against South Dakota State, becoming just the second Tommie in the program’s Division I era to reach the milestone.
• Oral Roberts setter Ava Ewald recorded a career-high 20 assists against North Dakota.
