SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Denver guard Carson Johnson claimed the latest Kwik Star Summit League Men’s Basketball Peak Performer of the Week accolade, securing the second of his season, league officials announced Tuesday.
Johnson guided the Pioneers to back-to-back road wins last week, averaging 21.0 ppg in victories at league-leading North Dakota State and North Dakota.
The Ankeny, Iowa native scored 20 points and dished out two assists to go with two steals in the 78-71 win over the Bison. He made at least three 3-pointers in a game for the 12
th time this season and also went 5-for-6 from the charity stripe.
Johnson capped the first Peace Garden State sweep for the Pioneers with 22 points and a season-high seven assists in a 98-79 win at North Dakota. He also went 10-for-10 from the charity stripe against the Fighting Hawks marking the second time this season he made double-digit freebies without a miss.
With his two 20-plus point scoring games last week, Johnson now ranks tied for ninth nationally with 14 on the season, which includes eight in 11 Summit games.
