FORT COLLINS, Colo. – South Dakota women's basketball will compete in the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) for the seventh time after earning an at-large bid to the tournament.
The 48-team field was announced Sunday night following the announcement of the NCAA Tournament and Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament (WBIT) fields. South Dakota is the lone Summit League representative in the field. A total of four South Dakota opponents from the 2025-26 season made the field: Air Force, Bradley, Pepperdine, and UTRGV.
South Dakota won the WNIT title in 2016, and Nicole Seekamp's 49 assists during that event is still the record for most in a single WNIT. USD is 14-5 all-time in the WNIT.
Details including the bracket, host schools, dates, and times are to be announced Monday.
