SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota setter Ella Rogers and North Dakota middle blocker Lilliana Montes were named the Summit League Volleyball Peak Performers of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday. Rogers earned her first career offensive honor, while Montes claimed her first defensive award.
Rogers made her first career starts over the weekend and tallied 97 assists and 20 digs, averaging 9.70 assists per set during the Coyotes’ third weekend of the season. The Des Moines, Iowa, native opened the weekend with 26 assists and five digs against Colorado State.
The USD sophomore followed with 42 assists and 10 digs in a four-set victory over Wyoming, recording the first double-double of her career. She closed the weekend with 29 assists and five digs in a three-set match against UC Santa Barbara.
Montes totaled 19 blocks and averaged 1.36 blocks per set during the Fighting Hawks’ third weekend of the season at The Joust. The Murrieta, Calif., native opened the weekend with nine kills and a .368 hitting percentage against California Baptist.
The UND junior followed with five blocks and nine kills in a four-set match against Idaho before closing the weekend with a career-high 14 blocks in a five-set victory over Sacred Heart.
