Oral Roberts and Kansas City Claim #SummitWSOC Weekly Honors

Castleberry garners second honor of season

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – After two goals on the week, including one against No. 17 Baylor, Oral Roberts’ Brianna Castleberry earned the Summit League Women’s Soccer Offensive Peak Performer of the Week. After collecting a clean sheet and making 11 saves against RV Memphis, Kansas City’s Anika Patton picked up the Defensive Peak Performer of the Week, the League office announced on Tuesday.

Castleberry earns her second weekly honor after scoring a goal in each match of the week. In the 2-0 win over Tulsa, Castleberry also recorded an assist to bring her League-leading points to 17. In the 2-1 loss to No. 17 Baylor, she scored on a free kick in the 71st minute to come even with the Bears before Baylor answered back just minutes later. Castleberry has also scored in four straight matches, tied for the longest active streak in the League with St. Thomas’ Izzy McEwan.

This is Oral Roberts’ fourth weekly honor of the season and Castleberry’s second.

Patton is coming off a 15-save week that saw her earn a clean sheet in the 2-0 win versus Missouri State, making five saves, and collected an 11 save night on Sunday in the 1-0 road loss against RV Memphis. Her 37 saves on the year also leads the Summit League.

This is Patton and Kansas City’s first weekly accolade of the season.
