SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Seven of eight Summit League volleyball teams picked up at least one victory during the opening weekend, with the league combining for a 12-9 record across its first 21 matches of the 2026 season.
The second week of the season features another busy slate, with all eight Summit League programs in action. The week begins Wednesday when South Dakota State welcomes top-ranked Nebraska to First Bank & Trust Arena for the Jackrabbits’ first home match of the season. The matchup marks the first meeting between the programs since 2023.
North Dakota State, which opened the season 2-0 for the second consecutive year, travels to Boise, Idaho, for three matches, beginning Thursday against Boise State before facing Idaho State and UNLV. The Bison enter the weekend having won eight consecutive five-set matches dating to the 2024 season.
Oral Roberts also enters the week unbeaten at 3-0 after matching its entire 2025 win total during the opening weekend. The Golden Eagles travel to Spokane, Washington, for three matches against Eastern Washington, Gonzaga and Cal State Fullerton.
Kansas City heads to Oxford, Ohio, for three matches, facing Purdue Fort Wayne, Miami (Ohio) and Evansville, while North Dakota hosts Mercer before traveling to California next week. South Dakota State hosts Western Illinois and Northern Arizona in addition to Wednesday’s matchup with Nebraska. South Dakota welcomes Utah Valley, Air Force, and Northern Iowa to Vermillion.
Omaha hosts Western Michigan, Louisiana Tech and Chicago State, while St. Thomas welcomes Montana State, UIC and Milwaukee.

Around the League
• North Dakota State opened the season 2-0 for the second consecutive year after earning a five-set victory over Tulane before sweeping Tennessee Tech. Lauren Jansen, Arianna Blohm and Zoe John were each named to the Green Wave Classic All-Tournament Team. Jansen recorded a double-double in both matches, including 22 kills against Tulane and 12 kills and 10 digs against Tennessee Tech. NDSU has now won eight consecutive five-set matches dating to the 2024 season.
• Oral Roberts raced to a 3-0 start at the Colonel Classic, matching its entire win total from the 2025 season. The Golden Eagles earned five-set victories over Nicholls and New Orleans and swept Stonehill. Cortnee Smith was named tournament MVP after averaging 4.11 kills per set, while Ciara Cunningham also earned all-tournament honors.
• Kansas City’s Chloe Kaminski ranks fifth nationally in digs per set at 5.55 following the opening weekend. Ryanne Wattree led the Roos with 34 kills and a .352 hitting percentage.
• South Dakota setter Avery Van Hook leads the Summit League in total assists (124) and assists per set (11.27). Van Hook helped the Coyotes to victories over Drake and Milwaukee, with USD head coach Leanne Williamson earning a win over her alma mater, Milwaukee, in a 3-0 sweep.
• Omaha middle blocker Dara Obeid made an immediate impact in her second collegiate match, recording 11 kills with just one error while adding five blocks in the Mavericks’ 3-0 sweep of Central Michigan.
• South Dakota State’s Sylvie Zgonc totaled 54 kills during the opening weekend, including 23 kills and nine digs in a five-set victory over Sacramento State. She followed with her first double-double of the season, recording 22 kills and 13 digs against (RV) Villanova.
• North Dakota earned its first victory under head coach David Nguyen with a 3-0 sweep of Chicago State. Against Seattle, the Fighting Hawks had four players record double-digit kills in the same match for the first time since 2023.
• St. Thomas’ Addie Schmotzer turned in a career performance against Texas Tech, recording a career-high 12 kills while surpassing 150 career blocks. Morgan Kealy added 39 assists and 12 digs for her 47th career double-double.
