UST’s Schmidt, NDSU’s Blohm claim fourth #SummitVB weekly accolades

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – St. Thomas outside hitter Anya Schmidt and North Dakota State middle blocker Arianna Blohm were named the Summit League Volleyball Peak Performers of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday. Schmidt earned her first career offensive honor, while Blohm collected her second defensive award.
 
Schmidt tallied 43 kills and 19 digs while averaging 4.30 kills per set during the Tommies’ final weekend of nonconference play. The Rogers, Minn., native opened the weekend by setting a St. Thomas single-match record for kills and points, recording 25 kills and 29 points in a five-set match against Western Michigan.
 
The UST sophomore followed with 18 kills and 10 digs in a five-set match against Marquette. This was her third double-double of the season. 
 
Blohm totaled 13 blocks and averaged 1.30 blocks per set during the Bison’s undefeated final weekend of nonconference play. The Spring Valley, Minn., native opened the weekend with two blocks, seven digs and 12 kills while hitting .524 against Montana.

The NDSU senior followed with three blocks and eight kills in a three-set match against Gonzaga before closing the weekend with a career-high eight blocks in a five-set victory over Seattle.

  • Garnered three blocks and eight kills against Gonzaga while also contributing eight blocks and five kills against Seattle
  • Claimed her second career defensive peak performer of the week accolade
