SDSU’s Zgonc, OMA’s Obeid claim fifth #SummitVB weekly accolades

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State outside hitter Sylvie Zgonc and Omaha middle blocker Dara Obeid were named the Summit League Volleyball Peak Performers of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday. Zgonc earned her eighth career offensive honor, while Obeid collected her first defensive award.
 
Zgonc recorded 19 kills and 13 digs while averaging 6.33 kills per set in the Jackrabbits’ opening match of conference play. The Hartford, Wis., native also tallied 19 points and averaged 6.50 points per set in a three-set match against South Dakota.
 
Obeid totaled 22 blocks and averaged 1.50 blocks per set during the Mavericks’ undefeated opening weekend of conference play. The freshman opened the weekend with seven blocks, three digs and 12 kills while hitting .333 against North Dakota.
 
The Burlington, Ontario, native followed with five blocks and 10 kills in a four-set match against North Dakota State.
