SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Summit League men's soccer teams continued to make an impact against challenging nonconference competition during the second week of the season, combining for a 4-4-3 record while producing 17 goals, multiple shutouts, dramatic comebacks and clutch goalkeeping performances.
Delaware has emerged as one of the top defensive teams in the nation, allowing just one goal through its first four matches while recording three shutouts. Omaha has shown it can find the back of the net in bunches, scoring four goals in each of its two victories this season.
The Roos rank seventh nationally in assists per game, averaging 4.00 through their first three matches, while St. Thomas forward Ednilson Voiles became the seventh Tommie in program history to record a brace.
UMass bounced back from a loss to Harvard with a 1-0 victory over UMass Lowell, recording its first shutout of the season, while goalkeeper Dean Linden made four saves, including a penalty-kick stop. Oral Roberts goalkeeper Cameron Parma continued his strong start to the season with nine saves in a 2-2 draw at Cal State Fullerton, the most by a Summit League goalkeeper this season.
Five of the six League teams ended up in the USC West Region rankings this week. The Roos were tops among five Summit squads at No. 3 and followed by the Blue Hens in fourth, the Minutemen in fifth, the Mavericks in seventh, and the Golden Eagles in ninth.
Delaware, Kansas City, Omaha, and UMass all have nationally ranked tests coming up this weeked as the Blue Hens face (2/2) Maryland, the Roos face (3/3) SMU, the Mavericks travel out west for a match with (12/19) UCLA, and the Minutemen host (23/14) Princeton.

AROUND THE LEAGUE
•Summit League teams have recorded 11 wins against just five losses through the opening two weeks, with seven matches ending in draws.
•The Summit League placed five teams among the top nine of the latest United Soccer Coaches West Region rankings, with Kansas City checking in at No. 3, Delaware at No. 4, UMass at No. 5, Omaha at No. 7 and Oral Roberts at No. 9. The five programs account for half of the region’s top 10 spots.
• Omaha is the lone Summit League team without a loss through two weeks, while all six League teams have already picked up at least one victory. The Mavericks are 2-0-1 and have outscored opponents 8-2 through three matches.
• Omaha has scored four goals in two of its first three matches, including a 4-0 shutout of Bradley. The Mavericks have allowed just two goals.
• After dropping their season opener, St. Thomas has gone unbeaten in its last four matches, posting two wins and two draws.
• St. Thomas goalkeeper Moritz Krenc recorded his sixth career shutout against St. Cloud State, setting a new program record.
• The Tommies’ Ednilson Voiles scored twice against Chicago State to become the seventh Tommie in program history to record a brace.
• Delaware has recorded three shutouts through four matches, including a 0-0 draw at American on Tuesday. The Blue Hens have allowed just one goal all season.
• Delaware goalkeeper Eric Widrick has helped the Blue Hens record three shutouts through four matches. He made a career-high six saves against No. 6 Georgetown before recording another clean sheet with one save in Tuesday’s 0-0 draw at American.
•UMass goalkeeper Dean Linden stopped a penalty kick against UMass Lowell and recorded his first shutout of the season in the Minutemen’s 1-0 victory.
•Liam Gainey scored UMass’ game-winning goal against UMass Lowell, giving him goals in back-to-back matches after scoring against Harvard.
•Kansas City’s Raphael Kistmann netted his third goal of the season on a penalty kick against San Francisco. Kistmann leads the league with three goals this season.
• Oral Roberts goalkeeper Cameron Parma recorded a career-high nine saves in a 2-2 draw at Cal State Fullerton, the most saves by a Summit League goalkeeper in a single match this season.
