#SummitVB Weekly Notes: Week 6 Edition

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Omaha picked up two wins last week, while Kansas City and South Dakota State also opened Summit League play with victories in their lone matches.

The Mavericks (8-4) currently lead the league in total blocks (20.0), blocks per set (2.50) and service aces (14) following the opening weekend of conference play. Kansas City leads the league in points per set (19.67) and hitting percentage (.308) and is tied with South Dakota State for the top spot in kills per set (15.67). The Jackrabbits also lead the league in assists per set (15.00), digs per set (21.67), opponent kills per set (11.33) and opponent blocks per set (1.33).

St. Thomas leads the league in total digs (135), opponent assists per set (11.22) and opponent hitting percentage (.163). North Dakota State ranks first in total points (145), assists (117) and kills (120), as well as opponent digs per set (12.00).
North Dakota State and St. Thomas each split their matches last week, finishing 1-1. Oral Roberts, North Dakota and South Dakota remain winless in league play.

This weekend, Kansas City, Omaha, Oral Roberts and St. Thomas will each host two matches as Summit League play continues. Omaha and St. Thomas will both host South Dakota and South Dakota State, while Kansas City and Oral Roberts welcome North Dakota and North Dakota State.

Around The League
• The Summit League ranks 13th in the Massey Ratings, placing the conference among the top half of NCAA Division I volleyball leagues.
• Omaha head coach Matt Buttermore recorded his 300th career victory in a 3-1 win over North Dakota State.
• Kansas City setter Coco Buschhorn recorded a career-high 25 assists in the Roos’ three-set match against Oral Roberts.
• Kansas City had three players hit .400 or better against Oral Roberts. Ryanne Wattree tallied 16 kills while hitting .464, while Natalie Ptacek added six kills at a .462 clip and Stella Smith contributed six kills while hitting .400.
• South Dakota State’s Sylvie Zgonc has recorded 1,528 career kills, ranking 12th in Summit League history.
• St. Thomas had three players record 15 kills in a match for just the second time in its Division I era when Addie Schmotzer, Ellie Gustafson and Anya Schmidt each reached the mark against North Dakota State.
•UST’s senior setter Morgan Kealy, a two-time Summit League Setter of the Year, recorded a career-high 54 assists in a five-set match against North Dakota State.
• North Dakota State junior outside hitter Zoe John recorded a career-high and match-high 23 kills in a five-set thriller against St. Thomas.
• South Dakota welcomed 2,664 fans for its conference opener against South Dakota State, marking the third-largest crowd in program history.
•USD’s Avery Van Hook is 38 assists away from entering the Summit League record book at No. 20 on the career assists list.
• Oral Roberts freshman Khylie Remmenga leads the league during conference play with 1.33 service aces per set after recording four against Kansas City.
•UND freshman Sally Marong recorded her first two career double-doubles in back-to-back matches against Omaha and St. Thomas. She tallied 11 kills and 13 digs against St. Thomas before posting 15 kills and 11 digs against Omaha.
