SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Summit League women’s volleyball programs combined for 16 wins during the second week of the 2026 season, highlighted by a 3-0 weekend from South Dakota and a 3-1 mark from South Dakota State. Kansas City, North Dakota State, Omaha and Oral Roberts each earned two victories, while North Dakota and St. Thomas each picked up one win.
All eight Summit League volleyball teams return to action this week, competing across 10 states. St. Thomas, Oral Roberts and Kansas City are set to host home matches during the third week of the season.
Two Summit League programs will face nationally ranked opponents this weekend. South Dakota State opens the week Friday against No. 22 Kansas before hosting (RV) Tulsa on Saturday. St. Thomas faces Miami on Saturday before traveling to No. 13 Minnesota on Sunday.
North Dakota State travels to Bozeman, Montana, for a pair of matches, facing Montana State on Thursday before taking on Portland on Friday. Kansas City hosts the Kansas City Klassic, welcoming Radford and Utah Valley on Friday before facing Drake on Saturday.
South Dakota heads west for three matches against Colorado State, Wyoming and UC Santa Barbara. The Coyotes open Thursday against Colorado State in Fort Collins, Colorado, before facing Wyoming on Friday in Laramie and then UC Santa Barbara on Saturday back in Fort Collins.
Omaha travels to Flagstaff, Arizona, for the Northern Arizona Tournament. The Mavericks face Northern Arizona on Thursday, UC Riverside on Friday and Grand Canyon on Saturday before returning to the road Tuesday for a matchup against Drake in Des Moines, Iowa.
Oral Roberts remains at home for a pair of matches against Abilene Christian. North Dakota also heads west, traveling to Riverside, California, for The Joust. The Fighting Hawks face host Cal Baptist on Thursday before taking on Idaho and Sacred Heart on Friday.

Around The League
• All eight Summit League teams picked up at least one victory during the second weekend of action, with the league combining for a 16-9 record across 25 matches.
• The Summit League currently ranks 12th in the Massey Rankings placing the conference among the top leagues in the country through the opening weeks of the season.
• South Dakota senior setter Avery Van Hook continues to climb the NCAA’s active career charts, entering the week with 3,522 career assists. She also became the fifth Coyote in program history to reach 1,000 career digs and 3,000 career assists, reaching the 1,000-dig milestone against Air Force.
• North Dakota State’s Arianna Blohm earned a spot on the Boise State Classic All-Tournament Team after totaling 44 kills and eight blocks across three matches. The Bison also extended their impressive five-set streak, winning their ninth consecutive five-set match dating back to 2024.
• Oral Roberts’ Cortnee Smith ranks first nationally in total attacks (347), second in total kills (128) and fourth in total points (135.0) through two weeks of the season. The junior has already surpassed 100 kills in the Golden Eagles’ first eight matches.
• ORU’s setter Ana Appel ranks second nationally in service aces and sixth in total assists with 269 through the first two weeks of the season. Appel has helped ORU jump out to one of the program’s strongest starts in recent seasons.
• Kansas City defeated Evansville and Purdue Fort Wayne during the second weekend to improve to 4-2 on the season. The four victories already surpass the Roos’ entire win total from the 2025 season. Ryanne Wattree continues to lead the Kansas City attack, averaging 3.64 kills per set while hitting .392.
• Omaha leads the Summit League with 2.18 blocks per set and has established itself as one of the League’s top defensive teams. The Mavericks also lead the conference in opponent hitting percentage (.162), opponent assists (9.00 per set), opponent kills (10.06 per set) and opponent digs (10.94 per set).
• South Dakota State senior Sylvie Zgonc continues to pace the nation in total production. Through two weeks, the two-time Summit League Player of the Year leads all NCAA Division I players in total kills (131) and total points (144.0) while ranking fifth nationally in points per set (5.54). Zgonc added 77 kills during the second weekend alone, including 25 against Northern Arizona.
•North Dakota’s Lilliana Montes ranks fourth nationally with a 0.524 hitting percentage. The junior had recorded 36 kills in 63 attempts, while only committing three errors.
• St. Thomas’ Morgan Kealy notched her 3,000 career assists against Milwaukee. She now has the 11th most assists among active Division I players.
• St. Thomas opened its home schedule by welcoming a Schoenecker Arena-record crowd of 1,254 for its match against Montana State.
