ELMHURST, Ill. - South Dakota State's Krista Honken and IPFW's Courtney Cronin were named Summit League Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week for their performances during the week of Feb. 28-March 6.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Krista Honken, South Dakota State

Honken garners her first career Player of the Week award after hitting a walk-off home run against St. Bonaventure to give South Dakota State its first victory of the season and being named to the Hawai'i Invitational All-Tournament team . The sophomore, recorded at least one hit in all four games this weekend, including back-to-back multiple hit games to end the weekend going 3-for-4 against Weber State and 2-for-3 in the Jackrabbits' second win over St. Bonaventure. For the week, Honken batted a .538 (7-for-13) with a .923 slugging percentage, which included three extra base hits, a home run and two doubles, three RBI and three runs scored. She has at least one hit in 12-of-13 games this season and is on a 10 game hit streak.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Courtney Cronin, IPFW

Cronin earns her second straight career Pitcher of the Week honor and the fifth of her career after going 2-2 on the weekend and recording a 4-0 shutout against Iowa, her fourth of the season and 20th of her career. For the weekend, the right-handed hurler started all four games for the Mastodons striking out 14 batters and giving up nine earned runs in 21.1 innings of work for an ERA of 2.95 holding her opponents to a .250 batting average.
