ELMHURST, Ill. - Western Illinois' Jamie Goss and North Dakota State's Krista Menke were named The Summit League's Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week for their performances March 19-25.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jamie Goss, Western Illinois

Goss captures her second career Player of the Week honor and first of the season after leading the Fighting Leathernecks to a series win over Southern Utah and recording two multi-hit games and two multi-run games. She opened the week hitting a perfect 2-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored in non-league play against Illinois-Chicago. The infielder bettered that performance going 2-for-2 at the plate with two triples, three RBI and one run in the 8-0 win over Southern Utah. For the week, Goss hit .545 (6-for-11) with a .600 on-base percentage, five runs, four RBI, two triples and three walks.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Krista Menke, North Dakota State

Menke earns her third career Pitcher of the Week award and third-straight this season after helping the Bison post a 3-0 record last week and remain undefeated (6-0) in league play. The freshman pitcher threw two complete-game shutouts, her fifth in the last six games, against Oakland allowing six hits, all singles, in a combined 14 innings of work, while surrendering no walks. In the series finale against Oakland, she tossed her seventh two-hitter of the season. For the week, she fanned 15 batters, while yielding six hits and no runs in 14 innings of work for a 0.00 ERA. Menke leads the league in overall wins (13), wins in league play (5), four of which were shutouts, and ERA in league play (0.21).
