Single-Session Tickets For 2013 Basketball Championships On Sale Monday

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Single-session tickets for the 2013 Summit League Basketball Championships in Sioux Falls, S.D., will go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday, February 18th. 

All non-championship single-session tickets, which include admission into two games, will go on sale for $18.50.   Championship game single-session tickets will be made available for $17.  The 2013 Summit League Basketball Championships begin Saturday, March 9th and run through Tuesday, March 12th at the Sioux Falls Arena.  All single-session tickets will be available by calling 1-800-745-3000, visiting, or through Ticketmaster outlets. 

"Pre-tournament sales have far outpaced previous years," stated Wesley Hall, the new Executive Director of the Sioux Falls Sport Authority.  "Sioux Falls and the surrounding area have truly embraced this amazing event and it is quickly becoming one of the most sought after tickets in town." 

Sioux Falls has played host to The Summit League Basketball Championships since 2009, making Sioux Falls the longest-running continuous host for the basketball championships in The Summit League's illustrious 31-year history.  Last year over 40,000 spectators attended the event, setting an all-time Summit League attendance record. 

Striking a new 5-year deal with The Summit League in 2012, the Sioux Falls Sports Authority will host The Summit League Basketball Championships through 2017.  Included in the agreement is an option to host the tournament for an additional five years, which could allow the tournament to stay in Sioux Falls until 2022.


Entering its fourth decade of Division I athletics, The Summit League offers 19 championship sports and has a combined enrollment of over 144,000 at nine universities, four of which are located in top 58 U.S. metro populations (Detroit, Indianapolis, Kansas City and Omaha). Member institutions include: Fort Wayne (Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne), IUPUI (Indiana University-Purdue University-Indianapolis), Kansas City (University of Missouri-Kansas City), Omaha (University of  Nebraska Omaha), North Dakota State University, Oakland University, the University of South Dakota, South Dakota State University and Western Illinois University. Previously known as the Mid-Continent Conference, The Summit League rebranded in 2007 and has since produced 54 All-Americans, 37 Academic All-America selections and seven NCAA Championships. The Sioux Falls Sports Authority was formed in 2006 by community leaders to recruit major sporting events to the Sioux Falls area. The organization attracts international, national, regional and state sporting events by operating, leasing, enhancing or owning sports facilities in the Sioux Falls area. It is run by a board of directors made up of 15 community members, an executive director and project director. The organization hosted the 2009 - 2012 Summit League Men’s and 2010 - 2012 Women’s Basketball Tournament. The Sioux Falls Sports Authority has also secured the 2013 Summit League Basketball Tournament, which will be held March 9 – 12, 2013. The 2011 Summit League Track and Field Championships, 2011 Summit League Baseball Championships and the 2010-12 Sioux Falls Marathon were also hosted by the organization.
