MACOMB, Ill. - The UMKC men overtook the lead, while the Oral Roberts women continue to be on top following day two of The Summit League Golf Championships on Monday, in Macomb, Ill.
UMKC jumped to the top spot on the men's side with 587 strokes, while Western Illinois advanced to second with a total of 590. Southern Utah is in a close third with 593 strokes, followed by South Dakota State with 598. North Dakota State dropped from first to fifth with a total of 600, while Oral Roberts (601), Oakland (614), IUPUI (616), IPFW (624) and Centenary (626) rounded out the field.
The Oral Roberts women's team increased its lead after day two with 614 total strokes, while the next closest team is South Dakota State with 646. Oakland is in third place with 666, while North Dakota State comes in fourth at 669. Western Illinois (673) and Centenary (676) are in the fifth and sixth slots, respectively. IUPUI (682), UMKC (700), Southern Utah (712) and IPFW (714) round out the teams.
The Kangaroos are led by Alex Hogben and Stephen Clark, who are tied for third with a 146. Joe Schornack continues to lead the field with a 143, followed closely behind by the Leathernecks' Jared Steger with a 145. Southern Utah's Matt McArthur and Eric Nilsson are also in a tie for third with a 146, along with South Dakota State's Trent Peterson.
Pamela Ontiveros and Christy Carter of ORU are in first and second place in the individual standings with a 144 and 145, respectively. while the Jackrabbits' Hillary Gerster is in third with a 152. The Bison's Jenna Buckwalter stands in fourth place with a 157, and Amanda Rosol of SDSU is in fifth with a 159.
The final round continues Tuesday morning with the first competitors teeing-off at 7:30 a.m. from the Harry Mussatto Golf Course in Macomb, Ill. The winner will earn The Summit League's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
