ELMHURST, Ill. -- Oral Roberts University golfers Jessica Gibson and Sharon McAlpine have been named to the National Golf Coaches Association All-America Scholar team, it was announced on Wednesday.
Gibson, a senior elementary education major, and McAlpine, a recent graduate with a degree in marketing, were among 402 women's collegiate golfers named to the teams in all three NCAA divisions.
All team members must have maintained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or better, and participated in at least 50 percent of the team's regularly scheduled rounds.
Gibson competed in 29 of a possible 32 rounds, and ranked third on the Golden Eagles with an 80.59 stroke average. Her best finish was a tie for sixth place at the Islander Spring Classic in February.
McAlpine played 20 rounds and finished her final round with an 84.00 stroke average. Her best finish was a tie for 21st at The Summit League Championships, while her top round was a 77 at the BYU Dixie Classic in April.
Gibson and McAlpine helped lead ORU to its 11th consecutive Summit League title in April, and ORU's eighth straight NCAA Regional appearance.
