ELMHURST, Ill. – After winning the 2018 #SummitSB Championship, North Dakota State is slated to face Mississippi State (36-21) Friday at 8 p.m. CT in the NCAA Tucson Regional at Arizona's Hillenbrand Stadium. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN2 and will also be available on the Watch ESPN app.
The Bison have represented The Summit League in nine of the previous ten years, including the past five in-a-row. Over the past four seasons, North Dakota State has posted a 5-8 record in #NCAASoftball. In total, the program has collected nine NCAA tournament wins: Oklahoma (2009), Tulsa (2/2009), Hawai'i (2012), Auburn (2014), Fresno State (2015), BYU (2015), Weber State (2016) and Oklahoma (2017).
This will be the first contest between North Dakota State and Mississippi State. This season, the Bison have posted a 1-1 record against SEC foes. NDSU played in the 2012 NCAA Tucson Regional, finishing at 1-2.
The green and yellow have played nine teams this season in the 2018 NCAA tournament field, gathering a 7-10 record. Wins have come against BYU (2), Cal State Fullerton (2), No. 11 LSU and Monmouth (2).
The 2018 Summit League Pitcher of the Year Jacquelyn Sertic currently ranks third in the NCAA with 303 strikeouts, fourth with 12 shutouts and ninth with 9.66 K/7. In the #SummitSB Championship, Sertic tied a league record for strikeouts in a single game (15) when she threw seven-innings of domination and no-hit South Dakota State in the semifinals. Senior Bre Beatty leads the squad offensively with 16 multi-hit games.
