Bison, Jackrabbits picked to take home indoor title

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The South Dakota State men and the North Dakota State women were picked as the league favorites for The 2020 Summit League Indoor Track and Field preseason poll released Thursday.

This is the second consecutive year that the South Dakota State men were voted the preseason No. 1 team with 24 total points and four first-place votes. North Dakota State finished right behind the defending champions claiming the No. 2 spot with a total of 22 points and the remaining two first-place votes. South Dakota (17), Oral Roberts (13), North Dakota (9), Western Illinois (3) and Purdue Fort Wayne (2) round out the men's rankings.

On the women's side, North Dakota State was picked to finish atop the league for the eleventh time since joining the league 12 years ago. The Bison finished with 36 total points and six first-place votes. South Dakota took the final first-place vote and earned the No. 2 spot with 29 total points. South Dakota State took the No. 3 spot with 22 points. Following the Jackrabbits to finish off the women's preseason rankings were North Dakota (21), Oral Roberts (20), Western Illinois (7), Omaha (4) and Purdue Fort Wayne (4).
