Omaha’s Shaw Named #SummitWBB Player of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. – Omaha's Mikaela Shaw was named The Summit League Player of the Week for her performances Feb. 9-15.

Shaw collects her first career Player of the Week honor after scoring 38 points in a road win at North Dakota State. The sophomore guard's 38 points were a Summit League season-high, fifth-highest in league history and third-highest in program history. She added nine rebounds and shot 58 percent from the field against the Bison. In a loss at league-leading South Dakota, Shaw tallied 18 points with five rebounds and two assists. For the week, Shaw averaged 28 points, seven rebounds and 1.5 assists per game and shot 56 percent (22-of-39) from the field.

In its fourth decade of Division I athletics, The Summit League features women's basketball teams from nine member institutions: Denver, Fort Wayne, IUPUI, North Dakota State, Omaha, Oral Roberts, South Dakota, South Dakota State and Western Illinois. Over the past five seasons (2010-14), The Summit League has the nation's second-highest RPI gain (+10) during that span. In 2013-14, The Summit League tied its all-time high with four teams across three national postseason tournaments, recorded its highest combined postseason winning percentage and deepest postseason national tournament run, and had its best year-end Sagarin Ranking in a decade.
