Omaha forward Baily Cascio and her Maverick teammates get Summit Leauge play underway at Oral Roberts on Thursday.

The 20th season of Summit League women's soccer begins on Thursday when Omaha travels to Oral Roberts for a 4 p.m. CT match. The Golden Eagles shutout the Mavs 3-0 in last year's meeting. Only two teams enter Summit League action coming off victories (Denver and Purdue), but league squads combined to post a 36-41-11 record leading up to conference play.

Around The League
• That total marks the most non-conference wins since the 2013-14 season (40-40-13) and the 36 victories is 13 more than the nine clubs produced in non-conference play in 2017.
• South Dakota State went unblemished in Summit League play a season ago en route to the program's fourth outright regular-season title and sixth overall since 2008. The Jacks will begin their title defense on the road at Purdue Fort Wayne on Friday.
• Friday's match will end an unexpected, 11-day break for the Jacks, who had their final non-conference tuneup vs. Kansas City washed out at home on Sept. 21.
• The Mastodons went winless in league action last year, but finished non-conference action at 3-4-3 and bring the momentum from a 5-0 shutout over Chicago State into the match with SDSU. Freshman Kayla Wisniewski recorded the league's fourth hat trick of the season in the win over the Cougars and is one of just eight rookies in the NCAA to register three goals in a match in 2018.
• North Dakota State arrived back in the Mainland following a 1-1 stint in Hawai'i last week and will travel to Macomb on Friday to face Western Illinois. The Bison got two goals from Mariah Haberle, including the golden goal in overtime to beat Grand Canyon 3-2 before falling to Hawai'i on Sunday 2-0.
• Western Illinois wrapped up non-league play with a 4-1 setback at Ball State. The Leathernecks are one of three Summit League teams that have already reached or exceeded their win totals from 2017.
• In Friday's final league matchup, South Dakota travels to Denver to take on the Pioneers. The Coyotes, who won only four matches total a year ago, have already captured five victories and three ties under first-year head coach Michael Thomas.
• The Pioneers, who are the reigning Summit League Tournament Champions, snapped a two-game skid with a 2-0 victory over Cal State Fullerton in their final non-conference match.
• Freshman Samantha Feller scored her first two collegiate goals in the triumph over the Titans. She has started the last three matches for DU.
• USD's 17 points in non-conference play were only topped by newcomer North Dakota.
• The Fighting Hawks turned in a 6-2-1 slate in non-conference play and allowed only two goals in those matches.
• Entering the week, UND senior goalkeeper Olivia Swenson ranked second in the NCAA in goals-against average (.227) and was tied for second in save percentage (.949).
• UND senior Katie Moller is tied for sixth nationally with nine goals and her four game-winning goals are tied for fifth -- both figures lead The Summit League.
• UND will have to wait until Sunday to get its first official Summit League match underway as the Fighting Hawks' match at Oral Roberts is one of four league tilts scheduled for that day.
• The slate also includes matches between SDSU and Western Illinois, NDSU and Purdue Fort Wayne, and Omaha and Denver.
