CoSIDA Women's Soccer Academic All-District Release

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Three Summit League women's soccer student-athletes were selected as CoSIDA Academic All-District® Team members in an announcement made by organization officials on Thursday.

The trio included Purdue Fort Wayne's Lindsay Yankasky, who was named to the District 5 Team as a defender, South Dakota's Kellee Willer, who was named to the District 6 Team as a forward, and North Dakota's Olivia Swenson, who joined Willer on the District 6 Team as the unit's goalkeeper.

Yankasky is a senior majoring in psychology with a cumulative GPA of 4.0. She started all 19 matches for the Mastodons during her final collegiate season, logging more than 1,600 minutes on the back line.

Willer is a senior majoring in elementary education with a 3.97 cumulative GPA. She started all 18 matches at forward for the Coyotes and ranked third in The Summit League with seven assists. Willer added three goals and was named to the All-Summit League Second Team for the second straight season.

Swenson is a senior majoring in accountancy with a cumulative GPA of 4.0. She finished the 2018 campaign with seven shutouts and led The Summit League in goals-against average (0.58) and save percentage (.892). Swenson was named The Summit League Female Athlete of the Month for September as well.

The Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the eighth year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA moved from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non-Division I) and has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored.

The expanded teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division Academic All-America® Team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools. The Division II and III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2017-18 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams program.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first, second- and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
