SDSU's Leah Manuleleua scored a pair of goals in the Jackrabbits' 2-0 win over Idaho State last weekend.

The Summit League women's soccer teams combined to go 8-4-5 during the opening week of the season with South Dakota State leading those efforts with a pair of wins.

• The schedule gets more challenging league-wide this week as a pair of squads play host to ranked opponents. No. 24 Texas visits Denver on Thursday while No. 20 Memphis visits Omaha on Sunday.
• The Jackrabbits opened a season with two victories for the first time since 2006 after blanking both Utah State (1-0) and Idaho State (2-0).
• Two-time reigning Summit League Goalkeeper of the Year Maggie Smither picked up the shutouts in both contests, combining for eight saves to pick up wins No. 29 and 30 of her career (second-most all-time at SDSU).
• NDSU was one of a trio of teams to start 1-0-1 and the Bison swept the initial Player of the Week honors after defeating St. Mary's 1-0 and earning a 1-1 draw with reigning Big Sky Champion Montana.
• The recipients of those awards were a pair of seniors as Mariah Haberle claimed the offensive accolade after scoring both of NDSU's goals during the weekend and classmate Monica Polgar earned her sixth-career defensive honor after registering 17 saves in the two contests, including a career-high tying nine vs. the Grizzlies. For Polgar, her six honors are tied for the second-most in league history.
• North Dakota earned the same results against St. Mary's (2-1; 2OT win) and Montana (0-0; 2OT tie) to start 1-0-1 on the campaign. 2017 Big Sky Goalkeeper of the Year Catherine Klein returned to the pitch after missing last season, stopping 13 shots in those two matches.
• Preseason favorite Denver rounded out the 1-0-1 squads, starting 2019 with a 0-0 tie vs. Boston before downing Drake 2-0. Junior Meg Halvorson was in on both goals for the Pios, scoring the first and assisting on the second.
• Western Illinois opened the campaign with a 2-1 victory over Missouri State as Bridget Schuler netted the game-winner in the 62nd-minute against the Bears.
• Oral Roberts bounced back from a 2-1 loss to Rice in its opener by routing Arkansas-Pine Bluff 7-0 to pull even at 1-1.  Drishana Pillay collected seven points in the victory, recording her first career hat trick to go with an assist. Her seven points are tied for the second-most in ORU single-match history.
• South Dakota also split its opening two matches, blanking Idaho State 2-0 in the opener before dropping a 1-0 tilt to Utah State. Sophomore Emma Harkleroad notched a four-save shutout in her collegiate debut against the Bengals.
• Omaha and Purdue Fort Wayne both fell by a single goal in their respective season openers before rallying to earn a draw in their next matches. The Mavs played Kansas State to a 0-0 tie while the Mastodons earned a 1-1 tie with Robert Morris.
