Andy Thurston joined the Summit League in 2026 as the Senior Director for Strategic Communications.
Thurston joins the Summit League after three years at Augustana University, where he most recently served as assistant athletics director for communications. In that role, he oversaw communications efforts for multiple programs, managed conference and national tournament media operations, and led content and social media initiatives that expanded the department's reach.
Before Augustana, Thurston was the Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant at Southwest Minnesota State from 2021 to 2023 and the Athletic Communication Intern at North Dakota State from 2019-2021.
Thurston received his B.S in Sport Management from North Dakota State in 2020 and his M.S. in Physical Education Teaching and Coaching from Southwest Minnesota State in 2023.
