SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Class is back in session and the swimming & diving season is onto a new year, as multiple teams kicked off their seasons. Denver’s Daniela Alfaro and Olivia Gordon earned Female Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively. Additionally, Valparaiso’s Dominic May was named the Male Swimmer of the Week, while South Dakota State Spencer Fritze was named the Male Diver of the Week.

Female Swimmer of the Week
Daniela Alfaro, Denver
Fr. | San Joaquin, Costa Rica
• Was a part of three victories against Colorado State
• Won the 1000 Free (10:50.94), 200 Fly (2:09.60) and 500 Free (5:14.93)
• Also placed second in the 1000 Free (10:48.47) and 100 Fly (59.16) against BYU
• First swimmer of the week accolade

Male Swimmer of the Week
Dominic May, Valparaiso
Jr. | Naperville, Ill.
• Won the 100 free clocking in a time of 47.75 against Rose-Hulman in its season-opening meet
• Helped anchor the 400-free relay team that placed second. His 46.80 time was the fastest leg of anyone in the relay.
• First career swimmer of the week honor

Olivia Gordon, Denver

• Made her collegiate debut by placing in the top four of the 1-meter and 3-meter dive against BYU and Colorado State
• Placed fourth in the 1-meter (254.70) and sixth in the 3-meter (247.50) against BYU
• Also recorded second place finishes in the 1-meter (248.78) and 3-meter (273.45) against Colorado State
• First career diver of the week honor
