DU's Fisher, Omaha's Danis capture TicketSmarter #SummitMSOC awards

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Denver’s Lukas Fisher earned his third TicketSmarter Summit League Men’s Soccer Player of the Week offensive award of the season, while Omaha’s Dominik Danis collected his first, league officials announced Monday.

Fisher has won the honor in three of the last four weeks and this time it was a pair of goals in a 2-0 victory over Eastern Illinois that led him to the accolade. Fisher’s first tally came on a penalty kick in the 35th-minute, then just 49 seconds later he tacked on his second of the match and fourth of the season.

Fisher leads the Pioneers with four goals and eight points on the season.

Danis played in all 180 minutes during a 1-1 week for the Mavericks, who fell 1-0 at Creighton, then bounced back with a 2-0 victory over Kansas City in league play. Danis and the Maverick defenders did not allow the Roos a shot on goal in what was Omaha’s third shutout in the last five matches.

The sophomore also opened the scoring for Omaha with his first career goal in the 14th-minute.
