SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Eastern Illinois swept the TicketSmarter Summit League Swimmer of the Week honors, while St. Thomas’ Peyton Ekman collected the women’s diver of the week honor, league officials announced on Tuesday.
The Panther duo of Spencer Wilson and Kennedy Darensbourg earned the first weekly swimming accolades of their respective careers.
Wilson won the men’s 200-meter freestyle with a time of 1:44.83 and also captured the 500-meter freestyle in 4:52.60 to secure a pair of event titles in a home meet vs. Ball State. Darensbourg finished runner-up in the women’s 1000-meter freestyle with a time of 10:49.88. This was just two seconds shy of the school-record time of 10:47.34.
Ekman posted a season-best score of 240.68 on the one-meter and a 229.88 on the three-meter in a dual meet vs. Minnesota. Both of those tallies rank among the top 10 for Summit League divers this season.
