USD, SDSU take home TicketSmarter #SummitSD weekly awards

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Impressive record-breaking and NCAA Zone Qualifying performances at the Augustana Invitational in Sioux Falls, S.D., earned South Dakota and South Dakota State TicketSmarter Summit League Swimmers and Divers of the Week, league officials announced on Tuesday.

At the Midco Aquatic Center, SDSU's Elisabeth Timmer took home multiple first-place finishes and school record times, which earned herself the Swimmer of the Week nod. The Savaneta, Aruba native closed out a strong first half of the season by breaking her own school record in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.08 in the first day of competition in the preliminaries, then posted a winning time of 23.15 in the evening session. She also set a school record in the 100 freestyle with a time of 50.45.

Teammate Spencer Fritze claimed back-to-back Men's Diver of the Week accolades after winning the three-meter dive with a score of 315.35 and placed third in the one-meter dive with 281.60 points.

For South Dakota, Adam Fisher earned his first career Men's Swimmer of the Week nod, as the Windlake, Wis., native contributed the Coyotes with four victories and posted personal best times in four individual races. Fisher won the 100 backstroke with a time of 49.66 and the 200 backstroke in 1:49.59, which is the fastest time in the Summit League this season.

Fisher also swam on two winning relays, the 200 medley (23.39 split) and 400 medley (49.79 split). He also posted the second-fastest time in school history in the 200 backstroke while his preliminary times from the 100 backstroke (49.62) ranks third all-time in program history.

Fellow Coyote Stella Fairbanks captured her third Women's Diver of the Week accolade this season as the Highland, Mich., native won both diving events in Sioux Falls. She posted an NCAA Zone Qualifying mark of 285.95 on the three-meter dive and won the one-meter competition with a score of 252.00.
