SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State won a dual meet against Iowa Central Community College on Saturday and for their efforts, the Jackrabbits swept the men’s and women’s awards. Freshman Emma Walz and junior Alex Kraft capturing the women’s and men’s swimmers of the Week, respectively. Additionally, senior Quincee Simonsen and sophomore Spencer Fritze claimed the women’s and men’s diver of the Week, respectively, league officials announced on Tuesday.
Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Emma Waltz, South Dakota State
Fr. | Omaha, Neb.
• Won four events against Iowa Central Community College
• Placed first in the 200 Medley Relay as the first leg with a time of 1:48.34 and swam the opening leg of the 200 Free Relay (1:39.4) with a 25.06 split
• Also captured the 50 Free in a mark of 24.77 and won the 200 Back with a time of 2:07.18
• Earned her first career swimmer of the week award
Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Alex Kraft, South Dakota State
Jr. | Shakopee, Minn.
• Took home three first-place finishes against Iowa Central Community College
• Won the 200 Free (1:46.35), 500 Free (4:56.06) and was a part of the winning 200 Free Relay team (1:27.60) in which he was the lead leg
• Also placed second in the 50 Free with a time of 21.93
• Captured first career swimmer of the week honor
Women’s Diver of the Week
Quincee Simonson, South Dakota State
Sr. | Fargo, N.D.
• Led all divers with a 251.85 on the 1-meter board and finished runner-up on the 3-meter board with 232.73 points
• This is the first Summit League weekly honor for Simonson
Men’s Diver of the Week
Spencer Fritze, South Dakota State
So. | Park Rapids, Minn.
• Placed first on the 1-meter dive (255.35) and led the 3-meter board with a score of 241.05
• Placed first in the 1-meter event (266.48) and finished second in the 3-meter dive with a season-best score of 281.25
• Earned second career diver of the week honor
