Kansas City sweeps #SummitSB weekly honors

Vonfeldt, Hoveland earn weekly honors

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – For the third time this season, a pair of teammates swept the #SummitSB weekly honors as Ally Vonfeldt claimed the Player of the Week award and Mia Hoveland earned Pitcher of the Week accolades, league officials announced Monday.

Vonfeldt batted .313 at the plate with five hits, nine RBI, five runs and a .938 slugging percentage to life the Roos to a 3-2 record, including the program’s first win against a ranked opponent in No. 8 Oklahoma State. The Wichita, Kan., native hit three home runs and two of her dingers were go-ahead home runs in both games against UTSA.
Vonfeldt also hit a two-RBI double in extra innings against UTSA in the weekend finale and totaled five RBI in that game.

Hoveland appeared in three games for the Roos and made two starts, including a victory in the first game against the Cowgirls of Oklahoma State. She tossed a complete-game effort against OSU with seven innings of work and struck out eight batters. Her second appearance was another complete-game win against UTSA and she struck out nine batters while only allowing two hits.

The McFarland, Wis., native’s final appearance saw her pitch the first four innings against the Roadrunners, where she struck out an impressive nine batters. Moreover, Hoveland allowed her opponents to hit .212 overall.

  • Threw 18.0 innings with 26 strikeouts and scattered two hits, walked two and fanned nine in first win over UTSA
  • Also threw first four innings in second win over the Roadrunners striking out nine batters
  • Secured her second pitcher of the week award of the season
