SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State designated player/catcher Kelsey Lenox had a stellar weekend at the plate, earning her second career Player of the Week award, while North Dakota State’s Lainey Lyle picked up the pitching accolade, league officials announced Monday.
Lenox hit safely in all four games of another series sweep against Omaha, going 7-for-12 (.643 batting average) with four home runs and 14 RBI. The Chesterfield, Mo., native homered in both games of Saturday’s doubleheader, hitting a pair of two-run homers in the opener and adding a three-run blast and two-run double in game two.
She ended the weekend with her second five-RBI performance, which was highlighted by a grand slam, sealing a Jackrabbit sweep. In all, Lenox registered a 1.750 slugging percentage as six of her seven hits went for extra bases.
Lyle turned in quite the performance in her lone appearance in the circle, firing her first-career no-hitter in a 3-0 win over South Dakota in game two of Saturday’s twin bill.
