SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – For the fourth time this season and the second time by South Dakota State, a pair of teammates swept the weekly awards as Jocelyn Carrillo claimed the Player of the Week honor and Tori Kniesche earned the Pitcher of the Week accolade, league officials announced Monday.

Carrillo extended her hitting streak to eight games by hitting safely in all four weekend matchups against South Dakota. The Palmdale, Calif., native ended the four-game series by going 7-for-11 (.636) with five runs and three RBI while recording a 1.000 slugging percentage. Carrillo’s weekend was highlighted by hitting a two-run home run as part of a three-RBI performance in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday.

Kniesche was dominant in the circle for the Jackrabbits, as the Wayne, Neb., native went 2-0 with a 0.70 ERA and helped SDSU claim its first regular season league title in program history. Kniesche tossed a five-inning no-hitter against USD in game two of Saturday’s doubleheader by striking out 11 batters and only walking one. She also fired another five-inning complete game with 10 strikeouts the following day and has won 13 consecutive decisions.
