SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – For the fourth time this season, a pair of teammates swept the #SummitSB weekly honors as Lindsey Culver claimed the Player of the Week award and Tori Kniesche earned Pitcher of the Week accolades, league officials announced Monday.
Culver helped the Jackrabbits secure a sweep at Western Illinois by hitting safely in all four games of the series. The Cedar Rapids, Iowa native batted .692 (9-for-13) with five home runs, seven RBI and eight runs scored. She tallied a 2.231 slugging percentage as eight of her nine hits went for extra baes (five home runs, two triples, one double). Culver hit two home runs in each of the games of Friday's doubleheader and posted a .714 on-base percentage.
Kniesche pitched in two complete game shutout victories against Western Illinois where she struck out 24 batters and gave up just three hits in 14 innings of work. The Wayne, Neb., native struck out 12 batters in a 7-0 win in her first performance against the Leathernecks.
She followed up that performance striking out 12 batters on one walk an improved to 11-1 on the season, which leads the league in wins. Kniesche posted a 0.00 ERA and held her opponents to a .067 batting average.
