FARGO, N.D. – The fourth-seeded Kansas City Roos advanced to the double-elimination round of the Summit League Softball Championship presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare with their 10-2 victory over No. 5 South Dakota.

Kansas City got off to a hot start in the second inning and never looked back. The Roos recorded back-to-back singles and designated player Delainey Fenoglio belted a go-ahead three-run home run to left field.  The Roos would pick up two more runs the following inning on a dropped fly ball, making it a 5-0 game. South Dakota made it a three-run contest in the top of the third thanks to a two-run double from first basemen Jadyn DeWitte.

The Roos would go on to score the remaining five runs on a pair of two-run homers from second basemen Sydney McQuinn (5th inning) and third basemen Ally Vonfeldt (6th inning). The Roos ended the game in the bottom of the sixth, scoring their tenth run on a single by McQuinn to right-center field, bringing home Faith Willis to invoke the mercy rule.
