SDSU offense strikes early to force winner-take-all game at #SummitSB Championship

FARGO, N.D. -- Freshman Grace Glanzer hurled her second straight shutout and top-seeded South Dakota's offense pounced on second-seeded Omaha early to force a winner-take-all game at the 2021 #SummitSB Championship presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare. The Jackrabbits plated four runs in the first and added five more in the second as they build a commanding lead that resulted in a 9-0, five-inning victory in Saturday's first game at the Ellig Sports Complex.

Glanzer allowed just three hits as he backed up her shutout performance from a night early to record her seventh of the season. The Jackrabbits' top four hitters combined to go 9-for-12 to pace the offensive attack with Kelsey Lenox leading that charge.

She provided all four runs in the first with a grand slam, then added her second long ball of the game in the second to cap the scoring and drive in her fifth run of the game. Cylee Halvorson belted her league-leading 17th home run of the season to clear two off the bases and make it an 8-0 contest.

The Mavericks' offense could manage just three singles off Glanzer, who picked up her 18th win of the season.
