USD, SDSU receive TicketSmarter #SummitSD weekly accolades

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Several impressive performances were seen over the weekend including program and pool records that earned four student-athletes the TicketSmarter Summit League Swimmers and Divers of the Week, league officials announced on Tuesday. South Dakota’s Charlie Bean and Emily Kahn swept the Swimmers of the Week, while fellow Coyote Stella Fairbanks captured the Women’s Diver of the Week, Additionally, South Dakota State’s Zach Boyd claimed the Men’s Diver of the Week.

Bean contributed five wins and a runner-up finish during Summit League home duals with Omaha and South Dakota State. He won the 100 free (51.81), was second in the 200 free (1:57.25) and swam on the winning 200 Free Relay against the Mavericks. The following day, the Waverly, Minn., native won the 100 free (51.46) in a school and DakotaDome Pool record against the Jackrabbits. He also won the 200 free (1:56.38) and swam on his second winning 200 Free Relay that set another program and pool record.

Kahn had quite the performance in Summit League dual victories against Omaha and South Dakota State as she contributed six wins and a second-place effort. The Denver, Colo., native set a program and DakotaDome Pool record in the 50 free (26.41) and won the 100 free (58.46) against the Mavericks. Kahn also swam on a second-place 200 Medley Relay against Omaha. Against SDSU, she won four events in the 50 free (26.45), 100 fly (1:05.14) and 200 free (2:07.15) while also anchoring the 200 Medley Relay to a win.

Boyd swept the diving events in a dual with USD in the Jackrabbits’ first competition since mid-November. The Omaha, Neb., native won the 3-meter with a score of 286.35 and claimed the 1-meter board with a score of 260.50.

Fairbanks claimed back-to-back Women’s Diver of the Week honors by winning all four diving events against UNO and SDSU. The Highland, Mich., native posted scores of 252.75 on the 1-meter and an NCAA Zone Qualifying Score of 283.50 on the 3-meter board against Omaha. The following day, she had scores of 238.50 on the 1-meter and 272.25 on the 3-meter against South Dakota State.
