DU, SDSU receive TicketSmarter #SummitSD weekly awards

Several impressive performances were achieved over the weekend including an NCAA Zone Diving Cut as four student-athletes earned the latest TicketSmarter Summit League Men’s and Women’s Peak Swimmers and Divers of the Week honors. Denver’s Dylan Wright captured the Men’s Peak Swimmer of the Week, while South Dakota State’s Elisabeth Timmer received the Women’s Peak Swimmer of the Week accolade. Additionally, Spencer Fritze of SDSU collected the Men’s Peak Diver of the Week award, while Kaelyn Hinesley was named the Women’s Peak Diver of the Week, league officials announced on Tuesday.
 
Wright and the Pioneers competed in a double dual against [RV] LSU and Air Force at the El Pomar Natatorium in which DU came out victorious against the Falcons. The Cape Town, South Africa native earned nine points for the Pioneers in the 200 backstroke with a time 1:50.41, which ranks first in the Summit League this season. Additionally, Wright took seventh in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:44.03.
 
Timmer posted victories in all five individual events she competed in during two weekend competitions as she tied a league record after securing her eighth career weekly honor. The Savaneta, Aruba native began her weekend swimming against Augustana at the Marshall Center Pool where she collected wins in the 50 freestyle (23.28), 100 freestyle (23.28) and 200 freestyle (1:54.79). Her times in the 50 and 100 freestyle currently rank first in the league. Furthermore, Timmer swam on the Jackrabbits’ runner-up 400 Freestyle Relay team that posted a time of 3:33.50.
 
Against Northern State and Iowa Central, Timmer came out on top in the 100 butterfly (58.90) and 500 freestyle (5:20.14) while also anchoring a winning 400 Medley Relay team that posted a time of 3:58.20.
 
Fritze shined in a dual against the Vikings, collecting both diving event wins. The Park Rapids, Minn., native won the 1-meter dive by a 41-point margin with a score of 277.90 as well as the 3-meter dive, finishing 52 points ahead of his next competition with a score of 301.55.
 
Hinesley set an NCAA Zone Diving Cut score in the 1-meter dive against [RV] LSU and Air Force. She scored a 270.05 to take fifth in the event, which ranks second in the league this season. The Colorado Springs, Colo., native scored a 272.60 in the 3-meter dive placing eighth overall.

  • This is the eighth career peak performer honor for Timmer, tying for the most weekly swimming honors in league history

Women’s Peak Diver of the Week
Kaelyn Hinesley, Denver

  • Set an NCAA Zone Diving Cut score in the 1-meter (270.05) to take fifth in the event, finishing only behind four LSU diver
  • Also capture a score of 272.60 in the 3-meter dive
  • This is the first career peak performer honor for Hinesley
