UST, EIU, SDSU earn TicketSmarter #SummitSD weekly accolades

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.St. Thomas, Eastern Illinois and South Dakota State all had student-athletes earn shares of the TicketSmarter Summit League Men’s and Women’s Peak Swimmers and Divers of the Week honors, league officials announced on Tuesday.
 
Joe Rudd of St. Thomas received his third Men’s Peak Swimmer of the Week honor of the season, while Camryn Lewis of Eastern Illinois became the second Panther swimmer this season to collect the Women’s Peak Swimmer of the Week award. The South Dakota State diving duo of Spencer Fritze and Aleni Stoakes picked up the Men’s and Women’s Peak Divers of the Week, respectively.
 
Rudd brought in two event wins at the JoAnn Andregg Invitational in which he competed against St. Cloud State and Minnesota State. The Duluth, Minn., native won the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:06.95 and that time ranks as the sixth-best time in program history. Rudd captured the 400 IM (4:09.78) title that now sits as the ninth-best mark in Tommie history.
 
Lewis competed a plethora of events for Eastern Illinois at the A3 Performance Invite with numerous top-three finishes under her belt. The Kennesaw, Ga., native placed first in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.50 and that time now sits as the second-best time this season by a women’s league swimmer. Lewis earned the 100 freestyle title in a time of 52.33 with her time sitting as the fourth-best by a league swimmer this season.
 
In the relay events, Lewis and the 200 Free Relay placed second overall in a time of 1:37.14. The 400 Medley Relay (3:55.76), 200 Medley Relay (1:47.88) and 400 Free Relay (3:33.73) all placed third overall with Lewis leading the charge.
 
Fritze continued his winning ways by sweeping the diving events in a home dual meet against Omaha. The Park Rapids, Minn., native scored a season-best 287.10 on the 1-meter dive and claimed the 3-meter competition with a score of 291.00.
 
Stoakes was victorious in both diving events against the Mavericks and scored a season-best 224.85 in the 1-meter dive. The Lincoln, Neb., native added a winning score of 220.35 on the 3-meter dive.

  • Helped the Panthers to multiple top-three finishes at the A3 Performance Invitational
  • Guided EIU to a first-place finish in the 50 Free (23.50), which ranks second in the league this season
  • Placed first in the 100 Free (52.33) which ranks fourth in the league this season
  • Also swam to a quartet of top-three finishes in relay events
  • This is the first career peak performer honor for Lewis
