Lindenwood, USD collect TicketSmarter #SummitSD weekly awards

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.The Lindenwood Lions had quite the weekend at the Ohio State Fall Invite, as they earned three of the four TicketSmarter Summit League Peak Swimmers and Divers of the Week accolades, while South Dakota collected the remaining honor, League officials announced on Tuesday.
 
Emily Kahn of South Dakota received her third Women’s Peak Swimmer of the Week honor this season, while Elliott Irwin of Lindenwood was named the Men’s Peak Swimmer of the Week. The Lion diving duo of David Molina-Fregenal and Elle Christie picked up the Men’s and Women’s Peak Divers of the Week, respectively.

Irwin broke a League record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 46.73. The previous record was set in 2006 by Oakland’s Chris Sullivan and Irwin's efforts in the 100 butterfly were also an NCAA B Cut time. The Canberra, Australia native posted two more NCAA B Cut times in the 50 free (19.63) and 100 free (43.41).
 
Kahn registered eight top-four finishes during the three-day Augustana Invitational and had a part in four victories – one individual and three relays. The Denver, Colo., native set four school records and moved to the top of the season rankings by League swimmers in two events. Kahn won the 100 freestyle in a league-leading and school record time of 49.73 becoming the first Coyote to break the 50-second barrier. She also contributed to winning relays times in the 800 Free (1:51.49 split), 400 Medley (50.03 split) and 400 Free (50.04 split), with the latter two setting school records.

Kahn finished second in the 50 freestyle in a school record and league-leading time of 22.68 and placed second in the 100 butterfly in a personal best time of 55.69 that ranks second all-time in USD history.
 
Molina-Fregenal placed 19th in the 3-meter dive with a score of 276.10 to lead League divers last weekend at the Ohio State Fall Invite. The Madrid, Spain native scored a 275.25 in the 1-meter dive and became the first Lion diver to compete in a Platform event, scoring a 204.75.

Christie led the Lions in scoring by placing 13th in the 3-meter dive with a score of 271.15. The Ballwin, Mo., native rounded out her events by scoring a 261.25 in the 1-meter dive to lead League diver’s last weekend.
