USD, SDSU collect TicketSmarter #SummitSD weekly honors

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.For the fourth straight week, a women’s diver claimed an NCAA Zone Diving Cut as four student-athletes garnered the latest TicketSmarter Summit League Men’s and Women’s Peak Swimmers and Divers of the Week honors, league officials announced on Tuesday.
 
All four Peak Performers competed in the South Dakota hosted Coyote Extravaganza at the Midco Aquatic Center in Sioux Falls. South Dakota’s Stella Fairbanks earned the Women’s Peak Diver of the Week, while teammate Taylor Buhr was tabbed the Women’s Peak Swimmer of the Week. For the second straight week, South Dakota State senior Spencer Fritze earned the Men’s Peak Swimmer of the Week, while South Dakota senior Mack Sathre picked up the Men’s Peak Swimmer of the Week.
 
Sathre had six top-seven finishes during the Coyote Extravaganza and won the 100 IM in a league-leading time of 52.62. The Sartell, Minn., native finished fifth in the 400 IM (4:20.61) and seventh in the 100 freestyle (48.53). Sathre swam the second leg (47.15 split) on a winning 400 Free Relay while also swimming the third leg on a runner-up 200 Medley (22.38 split) and 400 Medley (50.32 split) relays.
 
Buhr was productive in the two-day Coyote Extravaganza as the Bettendorf, Iowa native captured four victories and a third-place effort during the seven-team meet. Buhr won the 100 breaststroke (1:05.08), 200 breaststroke (2:23.14) and a new league-leading time in the 100 IM (59.35). Additionally, Buhr swam the second leg (1:05.85) on a winning 400 Medley Relay and the second leg (30.43) on a third-place 200 Medley Relay.
 
Fritze won the 3-meter dive (286.00) by more than 45 points as his nearest competitor scored 240.15. Additionally, the Park Rapids, Minn., native took second place in the 1-meter dive with a score of 249.00.
 
Fairbanks became the fourth straight Summit League women’s diver to set an NCAA Zone Diving Cut score. The Highland, Mich., native placed first in the 3-meter with a score of 284.70 to earn the Diving Cut and won the 1-meter dive with a winning score of 259.90.
