SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – For the first time this season, it’s a sweep of the TicketSmarter Summit League Peak Swimmers and Divers of the Week accolades after Denver garnered all four accolades, League officials announced on Tuesday.
Alex Lynch and Mia Moulden earned their first Peak Swimmers of the Week honor while Jon Brouillette and Olivia Gordon were named Peak Divers of the Week as the Pioneers competed at the Princeton-hosted Big Al Invite.
Lynch posted two NCAA B Standards in the 200 breaststroke as the junior placed third out of 36 swimmers with a finals time of 1:57.44 after recording a preliminary time of 1:57.72. Both times for the Austin, Texas native were NCAA Championship provisional and NIC qualifying times. Furthermore, the 200 breaststroke time of 1:57.44 ranks as the third-fastest in program history.
Lynch placed eighth in the 100 breaststroke with a finals time of 54.99 after earning a preliminary time of 54.78. His 54.78 time was the eighth fastest in DU history. Lynch also helped a 400 Medley Relay team to an eighth-place finish with a time of 3:14.87.
Moulden earned three podiums and an NCAA B Standard time in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:57.97, out-swimming the field by more than 3.5 seconds and improved on her preliminary time by 2.74 seconds. Her NCAA Finals time was the third-best time in program history. The Slater, Iowa native finished third in the 200 Medley Relay as the quartet combined for a 1:40.56 time.
Moulden placed third in the 100 butterfly out of 33 swimmers with a time of 54.94, improving on the preliminaries by three places and finished sixth in the 400 Medley Relay, finishing nearly seven seconds faster than the seed time with a time of 3:44.52.
Brouillette dove against strong competition with Utah, Columbia, George Washington and Princeton. The North Platte, Neb., native placed 11
th in the 1-meter dive with a score of 267.25 and took 11
th in the 3-meter with a score of 268.60. Brouillette finished eighth in the platform dive, improving two spots from the preliminaries to earn 11 points in Denver taking fourth on the final day of Big Al Invite.
Gordon led the Pioneers in the 3-meter dive with a season-best score of 240.45, placing 10
th overall. Additionally, the Las Vegas, Nev., native finished 14
th in the 1-meter (2:17.75) and ninth in the platform dive (183.90).
