SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State's Emilee Buringa and Omaha's Kamryn Meyer paced their respective teams to stellar performances over the weekend en route to TicketSmarter Summit League Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week honors, respectively, league officials announced on Monday.
Buringa led the Bison to a 4-0 ledger at the Georgia Southern hosted GATA Challenge in Statesboro, Ga., where the sophomore center fielder hit .636 after going 7-for-11 with a home run and a double. The St. Charles, Minn., natives opening performance against UT-Martin saw her collect four RBI with a home run with three total hits. In total, Buringa drove in seven runs and scored five more, while also recording a stolen base. She finished the weekend with an impressive 1.000 slugging percentage and an OPS of 1.615.
Meyer had quite the weekend at the Incarnate Word Tournament in San Antonio, Texas, as the junior hurler finished 2-0 with a one-hit shutout against Boise State and a no-hitter against UTSA. Against the Broncos, the Wilton, Iowa native retired a career-high 15 batters and against the Roadrunners, Meyer struck out 11 more. Her no-hitter was the second of her career and first since last season's #SummitSB tournament.
