SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Summit League basketball fans will be able to purchase all-session tickets for the 2023 Men’s and Women’s Championships this fall with an exact on sale date to be determined, league officials announced Thursday.
This is a change from the original on sale date, which was scheduled for later this month. The adjustment was made to allow leadership across the League ample time to discuss the best ways to ensure the experiences for student-athletes and fans at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center remain high with all 10 teams set to participate in coming years.
“After experiencing it for the first time, it is clear to me the combined women’s and men’s tournaments in Sioux Falls is one of the premier college basketball experiences across the entire country,” Commissioner elect Josh Fenton said. “We had incredible fan support with some of our highest attendance figures for both tournaments. The atmosphere was electric and exactly what a collegiate athletic event experience should be.
“As we look forward to future tournaments, it is very important to take time to properly evaluate how we can build on this momentum and make future years’ experiences even better for all involved. Our process to allocate tickets will be guided by maximizing the student-athlete and fan experience in the venue. We will be mindful of fan loyalty, which has made this one of the preeminent combined basketball tournaments in the country, while ensuring our passionate fans across all member institutions have access to available tickets as we embrace the new format starting in 2023.”
For the first time in League history, the 2023 Men’s and Women’s Championships will feature all 10 members with St. Thomas gaining eligibility and cover five days on the calendar, starting March 3 and culminating with the respective title games on Tuesday, March 7.
The first day of action will feature games involving the No. 7 vs. No. 10 seeds and No. 8 vs. No. 9 seeds for both genders. The winners of those respective games will take on the top two seeds Saturday in quarterfinal action.
All previous two-year ticket holders will still have the option to purchase 2023 tickets during a limited presale prior to the general public on sale date.
