SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Omaha senior third baseman Jamie White and South Dakota State sophomore pitcher Tori Kniesche were named the latest TicketSmarter Summit League Player and Pitcher of the Week accolades, league officials announced on Monday.
White guided the Mavericks to a three-game road sweep of North Dakota, where she batted .538 (7-for-13) with seven RBI, two home runs, including the game-winner in the second game of the series, and a double. It was Omaha's first league series sweep since 2016.
In game one against the Fighting Hawks, White went 4-for-4 with a double and three singles while scoring a run. In game two, the Choctaw, Okla., native drilled the game-winning home run in the 10
th inning to give the Mavericks the 3-2 victory.
In the series finale, White tallied a pair of hits, including a three-run home run to take a four-run lead. White registered a 1.077 slugging percentage and a .538 on-base percentage.
Kniesche garnered two complete-game five-inning shutout wins to lead the Jackrabbits to a series sweep against Western Illinois. The Wayne, Neb., native allowed one total hit and struck out 11 batters in each appearance.
In game one, Kniesche tossed a five-inning no-hitter with three walks and in game two, she gave up just one hit on four walks. She held opponents to a .033 batting average and is now second in the league in strikeouts (153) and opponent batting average (.167).
