SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The 2022 Summit League Women's Tennis Championship bracket was released by league officials on Sunday with Denver taking home the top seed after clinching the Summit League regular season title outright with a 6-1 victory over Oral Roberts Saturday.
This marks the eighth season that the Pioneers have taken The Summit League regular season trophy home and enter the championship as the No. 1 seed. Denver was the preseason favorite and finished the regular season undefeated for the eighth consecutive time since joining the league.
The championship event will kick off with No. 2 seed Oral Roberts (12-9, 5-2 SL) taking on third-seeded South Dakota (10-11, 5-2 SL). The first serve between the Golden Eagles and the Coyotes will go up at 9 a.m. CT. Oral Roberts held a tiebreaker over South Dakota thanks to a 4-3 win over the Coyotes in the regular season.
Friday's second semifinal will feature top-seeded Denver (12-8, 7-0 SL) matching up against No. 4 Omaha (11-10, 4-3 SL) at 12 p.m. CT. The Mavericks held a tiebreaker over North Dakota for the final spot in the four-team field thanks to a 4-3 regular season win over the Fighting Hawks.
The 2022 Summit League Tennis Championships will be hosted April 22-23 at the Koch Family Tennis Center in Omaha, Neb. This is the second time in league history that the Mavericks have hosted the tennis championships, the last being in 2016.
The championship match is set for April 23 with the first serve going up at 12 p.m. CT. The winner will advance to the NCAA tournament to represent The Summit League as the automatic qualifier.
