SDSU’s Carrillo, Omaha’s Meyer receive TicketSmarter #SummitSB weekly accolades

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State sophomore infielder Rozelyn Carrillo and Omaha junior pitcher Kamryn Meyer collected the latest TicketSmarter Summit League Player and Pitcher of the Week accolades, respectively, league officials announced on Monday.
 
Carrillo led the Jackrabbits to a 3-1 week and a 3-0 mark in league play, as the sophomore shortstop batted .600 in SDSU’s weekend sweep of Kansas City. Carrillo opened the week with a grand slam at Minnesota, scoring two runs and walked once.
 
The Palmdale, Calif., native drove in a run and walked twice in the first game against the Roos scored the final run in both of Saturday’s walk-off wins. In the first game on Saturday, Carrillo went 3-for-4 with three RBI and in the series finale, she belted a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to break a scoreless tie. Carrillo is currently on a 16-game hitting streak and is batting .397 overall and a league-best .500 in conference play.
 
Meyer posted a 2-0 mark against St. Thomas, garnering a 0.64 ERA with 26 strikeouts. The Wilton, Iowa native set a single-game program record with 18 strikeouts in game one against the Tommies, allowing just two hits and no runs.
 
In the series finale, Meyer recorded another eight strikeouts in four innings of work and didn’t allow a hit. She held opponents to a 0.59 batting average and now has a league-high nine shutouts on the season, which ranks third in the nation.
