SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – With three weeks remaining in the regular season, it’s a nail bitter for the right to claim the regular season crown. South Dakota State remains at the top of the standings with a 10-2 record, while Omaha and South Dakota are tied for the second spot at 8-4. The Mavericks head up to Vermillion for a crucial three-game series against USD, and this is a big-time series to look out for.
North Dakota State will host SDSU and the pitching duo of Paige Vargas and Lainey Lyle will have their work cut out for them as they will face the best offensive team in the league. Lyle posts a 4-0 mark in league play, while Vargas has a trio of wins under her belt. SDSU’s Rozelyn Carrillo will look to extend her 16-game hitting streak and Cylie Halvorson are on fire this season and are one of three Jackrabbits to have started all 39 games as Carrillo’s sister, Jocelyn, is the other Jackrabbit to start every game.
