SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The second week of league action saw a 20-run game, two double-digit strikeout performances in the circle, teams climbing up in the standings and much more. South Dakota State and Kansas City are tied for the top spot in the standings, with the Jackrabbits taking two of three games against South Dakota and the Roos winning the first two games of the series against St. Thomas.
The third week of league play will see four teams making their home debuts in North Dakota, North Dakota State, St. Thomas, South Dakota State. The Tommies will make its home Division I debut when they square off against the Coyotes for a three-game series.

• South Dakota State sophomore infielder Rozelyn Carrillo, the latest TicketSmarter #SummitSB Player of the Week played a pivotal role in SDSU’s series win at South Dakota, where she batted .556 (5-for-9) with eight RBI, a pair of home runs, including a grand slam, two walks and a sacrifice fly as the Jackrabbits outscored USD 27-6.
• Carrillo set a new school record for single-game RBI with seven in game two of the doubleheader in a 20-0 win against the Coyotes.
• Omaha junior pitcher Kamryn Meyer earned the Pitcher of the Week after compiling two complete-game shutout victories to help the Mavericks secure the series win over NDSU. She allowed just four hits in each appearance and struck out 24 total batters, 13 in game one and 11 in game two.
• Meyer currently leads the league in five stat categories and ranks in the nation’s top-25. Her 1.27 ERA sits 23rd in the nation and 139 strikeouts is tied for 25th in the nation. With her two shutouts last weekend, Meyer has eight on the year ranking third in the NCAA. She allows only 3.3 hits per seven innings to rank eighth in the country, and her 11 strikeouts per seven innings ranks 14th in the country.
• SDSU sophomore pitcher Grace Glanzer picked up two wins in Vermillion allowing only one run and one walk in 11 innings pitched.
• Omaha outfielder Sophie Cerveny hit .500 over three games tallying four hits for the Mavericks against the Bison. She also slugged .500, notched a .500 on-base percentage, drove in a pair of runs and stole a base.
• In NDSU’s lone win against Omaha, pitcher Lainey Lyle pitched a complete-game effort striking out a trio of batters with just four hits on two earned runs.
• Emille Buringa of NDSU hit .556 on the week, recording a hit in all three games against the Mavericks. She was 3-for-3 with a two-run home run, a double and a walk in the lone Bison win.
• Western Illinois picked up the series win against North Dakota as pitcher Abby Carlin was a difference maker where she pitched 10 innings, allowed six hits and one run and struck out right Fighting Hawks. Her first apperance saw her pitch a complete-game shutout where she allowed three hits and struck out five in a 1-0 victory.
• St. Thomas picked up a league win against Kansas City and a non-league victory at Green Bay. Freshman shortstop Brooke Ellestad has started all 32 games for the Tommies and currently leads the league with a .433 batting average and 45 hits.
• NDSU’s Cameryn Maykut and Avery Wysong are tied for 10th in the nation with 12 doubles this season and teammate Dez Cardenas is tied for 26th with 11 doubles.
• Kansas City senior outfielder Kloe Hilbrenner recorded a pair of hits in the final two game of the series against the Tommies, including a three-RBI effort in game two. She also recorded a double and scored a run against Missouri and remains the league leader with 18 stolen bases.
• South Dakota’s picked up a 5-3 win in game one of the series against SDSU in the first game between the in-state foes in Vermillion since was 2017.
• In North Dakota’s lone win against Western Illinois, Jannay Jones pitched a complete-game victory as she struck out three Leathernecks in the 4-0 series finale win.
