SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Commissioner Josh Fenton announced Wednesday that Lindenwood University and the University of Southern Indiana will become Summit League affiliate members for the sports of men’s soccer and men’s and women’s swimming and diving for the 2022-23 academic year.
“Both of these institutions are making the transition to the Division I level and we are happy to provide a home for their men’s soccer and both of their swimming and diving programs during their first year of that process,” Fenton said. “The addition of members in these sports will add to the student-athlete experience for student-athletes at each respective institution and across the Summit League.”
Lindenwood, located in St. Charles, Mo., and Southern Indiana, located in Evansville, Ind., were both members of the Great Lakes Valley Conference at the Division II level and the department’s other sports teams will compete in the Ohio Valley Conference as they start the DI transition.
Southern Indiana is adding men’s and women’s swimming and diving to its list of sponsored sports for the 2022-23 academic year and the Screaming Eagles have already hired head coach Cameron Kainer to lead those efforts during their inaugural season.
